This Cable Fault Locator has been designed to trace underfloor heating elements, electrical cables and most wiring that is beneath a floor surface or a wall that has been broken.

Cable Fault locator comes with a transmitter and receiver and a rechargeable 12V battery. This Cable Fault Locator can trace the position of the broken cable by connecting the transmitter to a 12V battery thereby sending a signal through the wire.

By using our Locator machine ( Receiver, 9-volt battery ), you are able to follow the signal along the wire until the signal stops. This is where you would know where the problem is. It is an extremely user-friendly machine.

CABLE FAULT LOCATOR INSTRUCTIONS

Firstly The Cable Fault Tracer comes with a transmitter and receiver and a rechargeable 12V battery. This machine is able to trace the position of the broken cable by connecting the transmitter to a 12V battery thereby sending a signal through the wire.

By utilizing our Locator machine ( Receiver, 9-volt battery ), you are able to follow the signal along the wire until the signal stops. This is where you would know where the problem is. It is an extremely user-friendly machine.

Easy to use. Designed without any unnecessary extras. And finally, a clear audio signal and finally peak in the signal accurately locate the live cable so its orientation can be determined.

POINTS OF NOTE

1. Do not leave the transmitter connected to the battery longer than 15 to 20 minutes.
2. Disconnect the transmitter for intervals of 20 minutes.
3. Ensure that transmitter connector points ( red and blue ) are always connected to the right colours on the battery.
4. Be careful not to create a short circuit.
5. When holding the red button on the stick, the machine is activated, releasing the red button switches it off.
6. It is recommended that the technician familiarize himself with the machine if he has never used it before.
7. Before going out to sites, do a practice run by using a broken heater or sample heater.
8. This Cable Fault Locator can detect where the wire has been cut but not where there is a problem with broken insulation.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Connect the transmitter to a 12V battery. It is STRESSED that the wires are connected properly, red to plus ( + ), blue or black to minus ( – ). If the connection is done wrong, the transmitter will burn out.
2. Attached to the transmitter are 2 wires with 1 red grip and 1 black grip.
3. Connect one to the heating element and one to good strong earth.
4. Now with headphones plugged swing the stick across the floor surface.
5. You will get a sharp signal, follow that signal on the floor till the signal stops

6. Where the signal had stopped, make a mark on the floor.
7. Now, disconnect the transmitter wire and attach it to the second wire of the heating element.
8. Try and follow the return wire of the heating element till the signal stops.
9. This is where the repair will take place.
10. Removes the tiles and create a bridge with your repair kit.
11. Once this is done check again with the locator to determine if it has been fixed.
12. If the signal stops again, then there is another break in the heating element.
